Calvados
Calvados is bred from the best French performance bloodlines. His sire Uriel has been leading sire for several years (index 211, the highest index figure ever in France).
Uriel contributed to French breeding through 26 sons and he produced more than 100 international showjumpers!!
His dam Gold Rose (index 186!) was as a 3 year old French Conformation Champion and she was in the French Showjumping Team from 1979 until 1982, during which time she won for example
the Grand Prix of Paris and Madrid and became second in Lisbon, Barcelona and Hamburg. Her total winnings were Frs. 621.000,--. In addition Gold Rose produced two sons, that both became approved
stallions Turban Rose in Sweden and Sable Rose (=Calvados) in Holland. Gold Rose was sired by the great showjumper producer Ibrahim with 36 approved sons in France, including the legendary Almé. Granddam
of Calvados was the unique mare Jolie Rose, who became very famous by producing 6 international showjumpers including: All Rose, Dall Rose, Gold Rose, La Rose II. She also produced the approved stallions
Irminio and Joly Jumper.
Calvados as a 4 year old won the National Stallion Competition. In 1992 Calvados as an 8 year old claimed a deserved 7th place in the Dutch Championship with Peter Geerink. The next year they were Reserve Champion
of the Netherlands and won the Grand Prix of Tjele in Denmark, 3rd Grand Prix of Drammen, 5th Grand Prix of Falsterbo, 2nd Grand Prix of Spangenberg, 4th Grand Prix of Geesteren and winner of the Stallion Competition
at 's-Hertogenbosch.
From a few breeding Calvados has many international offspring e.g. Royal Love (Susanne Behring), Harmonie (Leon Thijssen), Iwan II (Mark Armstrong), Royal Future (Allison Firestone), Illusion (Tani Tops) and Silber
Bird (Markus Beerbaum).
Calvados' son Macanudo Dinero won the silver medal at the Panamerican Games in Winnipeg in 1999.
